Floating Line/ President's Cup at Eyebrook

Fished in a lot better conditions for fly fishing, light rain clearing early then dull and overcast with a fair breeze from the south that picked up and was quite gusty later on in the day, the combined Floating line competition, cancelled from early June because of high winds, and President's Cup saw a good turnout of anglers at Eyebrook. There were several limits caught and the rod average including catch and release was about 4. The fish were just under the surface, or the odd ones feeding on top. Retired helper Fred Kettle managed to out score Mark Goodge for once, I suspect a Ginger Tom might have accounted for the odd fish or two knowing Fred. Harold Pritchett had the best bag of 7 fish, and Trevor Ashby won the Frank Roberts Trophy for the heaviest fish in the Floating line, and was also drawn out as the winner of the Boat ticket donated by Ifor Jones. The Blind Pairs Winners of the Presidents cup drawn out were Jim Watts and Stewart Hume. Another nice day afloat rounded off with a splendid buffet supplied by Pauline and Mike and helpers.
